145th anniversary of the Bulgarian diplomatic service
Today we celebrate 145 years since the establishment of the Bulgarian diplomatic service. On this date in 1879 Kniaz Alexander Battenberg appointed the first Bulgarian diplomats — Dragan Tsankov, Evlogi Georgiev and Dimitar Kirovich, who represented our country in Constantinople, Bucharest and Belgrade. Since then, generations of Bulgarian diplomats have worked tirelessly to establish Bulgaria as a reliable and respected partner on the international stage.

On 28 and 29 June 2024, Deputy Foreign Minister Ivan Kondov presented Bulgaria at this year’s Dubrovnik Forum 2024. The event was attended by representatives from over 28 countries and international organisations, academia, media and business. Statement by High Representative Borrell on Russia’s decision to block a number of European media
The EU condemns the totally unfounded decision by the Russian authorities to block access to over eighty European media in Russia.
This decision further restricts access to free and independent information and expands the already severe media censorship in Russia. The banned European media work according to journalistic principles and standards. They give factual information, also to Russian audiences, including on Russia’s illegal war of aggression against Ukraine
