Minister of Foreign Affairs Georg Georgiev will take part in the Foreign Affairs Council in Luxembourg

The Minister of Foreign Affairs Georg Georgiev will take part in the Foreign Affairs Council, which will be held on 20 October 2025 in Luxembourg. The topics to be discussed at the Council include Russian aggression against Ukraine, EU relations with the countries of the Indo-Pacific region, and the situation in the Middle East. Minister Georgiev will also participate in the Ministerial Meeting on Interregional Security and Connectivity, where issues related to security, stability and resilience in the Black Sea region will be discussed.

Minister of Foreign Affairs Georg Georgiev to Pay a One-Day Working Visit to the United Kingdom on 21 July 2025

Minister of Foreign Affairs Georg Georgiev will undertake a one-day working visit to the United Kingdom on 21 July 2025, at the invitation of his British counterpart, Foreign Secretary David Lammy. In addition to bilateral talks with Secretary Lammy, the programme will include working meetings with Dame Karen Pierce, the United Kingdom’s Special Envoy for the Western Balkans, as well as with members of the newly established All-Party Parliamentary Group for Friendship with Bulgaria in the UK Parliament.

Deputy Minister Elena Shekerletova to Participate in the Regular Meeting of the EU General Affairs Council in Brussels

On 18 July 2025, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Ms Elena Shekerletova will be in Brussels to take part in the regular meeting of the General Affairs Council. The Council will hold an initial exchange of views on the legislative package for the post-2027 Multiannual Financial Framework (MFF), presented by the European Commission on 16 July 2025. Ministers will also discuss a proposal by Spain to include Catalan, Basque and Galician – languages with official status in Spain – within the European Union’s language regime.

The Council will also discuss the EU’s relations with Latin American and Caribbean countries, Moldova, and Somalia.

Minister of Foreign Affairs Georg Georgiev will take part in the 20th anniversary edition of the GLOBSEC Security Forum, which will be held in Prague from 12 to 14 June 2025. Bulgaria’s top diplomat will be one of the main panelists in the discussion on the Middle East, titled “Is a Path to Lasting Peace Possible?” During his visit to Prague, Minister Georgiev is also scheduled to hold working meetings with several of his counterparts.

Minister of Foreign Affairs Georg Georgiev to Undertake Working Visit to the Republic of Moldova

From 23 to 25 May 2025, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Georg Georgiev, will carry out a working visit to the Republic of Moldova. Together with his Moldovan counterpart, Mihai Popșoi, he will visit the city of Taraclia to attend celebrations marking 24 May and to take part in the official opening of the Taraclia branch of the "Angel Kanchev" University of Ruse. During the visit to Taraclia, meetings will be held with representatives of the local administration and mayors of settlements with Bulgarian populations in the Taraclia district. As part of the visit, Minister Georgiev will also hold working meetings with the President of the Moldovan Parliament, Igor Grosu, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Moldova, Mihai Popșoi, and the Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration, Cristina Gherasimov.

Visit of Minister Georg Georgiev to Egyp

From 21 to 23 May 2025, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Georg Georgiev, will pay an official visit to Egypt at the invitation of his Egyptian counterpart, Sameh Shoukry. During the visit, a Bulgarian-Egyptian Business Forum will also take place, with the participation of companies from various sectors, aimed at promoting trade, economic, and investment cooperation.
