The diplomatic relations between Bulgaria and Greece have been established in 1880.

The bilateral relations between the two countries are with a strategic character due to the active political dialogue, expanding trade and economic cooperation, common interests in the energy field and intensive educational and cultural exchanges.

The main priorities in the development of the bilateral cooperation are: realisation of the common energy projects and improvement of the connectivity; maintaining the active high level political dialogue, as well as deepening and expanding the sectoral cooperation; active cooperation and coordination on EU issues and on the prospects for the development of the region; creating favourable conditions for the growth of the trade and tourist flow; expanding cooperation in the field of education and culture.
