Georg Georgiev to Participants in the Tolerance March: What Happened 82 Years Ago Is the Brightest Page in Our History

09 March 2025 News

"What happened 82 years ago is not only the brightest page in our history. It is the most honorable sign of humanity, of humanism, of realizing the fact that there is nothing more valuable and nothing higher than human life." This was stated by Minister of Foreign Affairs Georg Georgiev in his speech to the participants in the Tolerance March under the motto "WE REMEMBER," which was held today in Sofia.

Georg Georgiev also emphasized that for the seventh consecutive year, more and more people have been walking along this route, united by their idea and vision of dignity, national honor, and remembrance. He recalled that today the world is torn apart by war, conflicts, and bloodshed. Bulgaria and its institutions will always oppose attempts to destroy peace, as happened on October 7, 2023, when innocent people were ruthlessly killed and abducted by terrorists.

"We must remember and honor the memory of the rescuers, the rescued, and those who were not saved from the hands of the Nazis and their collaborators – 11,343 Jews who went to Treblinka and never returned," said Georgiev. "This today gives us an even stronger incentive, even stronger confidence that the cause we as Bulgarians believe in is right, and we will continue to defend it with all our strength and means. Whatever it costs us. Bow! God save the victims! Glory to the rescuers!" he concluded his speech.
