The Prime Minister, Andrey Gyurov, visited the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to commend and award, together with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Nadezhda Neynski, the team of the Crisis Unit of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for the successful completion of the active phase of the operation to evacuate Bulgarian citizens from the Middle East region and Iran. Silver honorary insignia were awarded to the Director of the Situation Centre Directorate, Irena Dimitrova, the Director of the Consular Relations Directorate, Nikolay Vanchev, and the Head of the Crisis Management Department, Yanko Yordan

Bulgaria Reports Progress in the Process of Joining the United States Visa Waiver Program
Expert teams from Bulgaria and the United States held discussions on the country’s progress towards accession to the United States Visa Waiver Program. The meeting was attended by representatives of Bulgarian institutions forming part of the interinstitutional working group, led by Bulgaria’s National Coordinator for the Programme, Dimana Dramova, as well as experts from the United States Department of State and the United States Department of Homeland Security.

Commemoration of the 83rd Anniversary of the Rescue of Bulgarian Jews During the Second World War
“On this day, we honour not only the saving of human lives, but also the memory of the victims – a memory to which we must continually return and whose remembrance we must not allow to fade,” said the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Nadezhda Neynski, during her participation in the ceremony marking the 83rd anniversary of the rescue of Bulgarian Jews during the Second World War. By tradition, 10 March is commemorated each year with the laying of flowers at the Monument of Gratitude in the St Kliment Ohridski Garden.

According to information from the Situation Centre of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as of 09:30 on 9 March 2026, within the framework of the operation, assistance has been provided and continues to be provided to more than 2,600 Bulgarian citizens who have left countries in the Middle East region and Iran.
