STATES VIOLATING HUMAN RIGHTS HAVE NO PLACE IN THE UN HUMAN RIGHTS COUNCIL

Bulgaria joins the efforts of the European Union Member States, the United States, the United Kingdom and other like-minded countries to suspend Russia's membership in the UN Human Rights Council (HRC). By its actions, Russia has shown that it does not respect the core principles of the HRC and cannot continue to be its member.

Ukraine : Declaration by the High Representative on behalf of the EU on Russian atrocities committed in Bucha and other Ukrainian towns

The European Union condemns in the strongest possible terms the reported atrocities committed by the Russian armed forces in a number of occupied Ukrainian towns, that have now been liberated. Haunting images of large numbers of civilian deaths and casualties, as well as destruction of civilian infrastructures show the true face of the brutal war of aggression Russia is waging against Ukraine and its people. The massacres in the town of Bucha and other Ukrainian towns will be inscribed in the list of atrocities committed on European soil.

Bulgaria marks 73 years since the founding of NATO

Today marks the 73rd anniversary of NATO's founding. The North Atlantic Treaty was signed on April 4, 1949 in Washington by 10 European countries (Belgium, Great Britain, Denmark, Iceland, Italy, Luxembourg, Norway, Portugal, France and the Netherlands) and 2 North American (USA and Canada). Bulgaria joined the Alliance in 2004.
