The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Maria Gabriel has attended the Council of Foreign Affairs meeting of the European Union

The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Bulgaria Maria Gabriel has taken part in the regular monthly meeting of the EU foreign ministers, which has taken place in Luxembourg today.

Within the framework of the agenda of the Foreign Affairs Council, the discussed topics involved the Russian military aggression against Ukraine, the relations between the European Union and the Latin America and Caribbean region, as well as the upcoming Summit Meeting between the EU and the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC) on the 17 – 18th of July 2023 in Brussels and the topic of digital diplomacy.

The focus of the agenda of the Council were also the situation in Tunis, the interactions between Armenia and Azerbaijan and the latest developments on the Belgrade – Pristina dialogue. The meeting of the foreign ministers of the European Union was declared open with the topic of the Russian military aggression against Ukraine and the Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba joined the discussion via videoconference.

In the continuation of the meeting the topics of the need for proceeding with the military support for the country, the search for international legal accountability for the crimes committed in Ukraine and the continuation of the global commitment on the Peace Formula of President Zelensky were also discussed.

Within the Council of Foreign Affairs in Luxembourg, the Bulgarian Deputy Prime Minister Maria Gabriel held a number of bilateral meetings, including with the foreign ministers of France, the Netherlands, Sweden, Slovakia and Italy.
