Minister Georg Georgiev Attends NATO–Ukraine Council Working Dinner in Foreign Ministers' Format
On the first day of the NATO Summit in The Hague, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Bulgaria, Georg Georgiev, took part in a working dinner of the NATO–Ukraine Council, held in the format of foreign ministers.
The meeting was also attended by Ukraine’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Andrii Sybiha, and the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaja Kallas.
The main focus of the discussion was need to ensure Ukraine’s security and to maintain NATO’s long-term support.

The Permanent Representative of the Republic of Bulgaria to the European Union, Ambassador Rumen Alexandrov, represented Bulgaria at the regular meeting of the General Affairs Council, held today in Luxembourg.
The Council prepared the upcoming meeting of the European Council on 26 June, where conclusions are expected to be discussed and adopted on a broad range of issues, including the situation in Ukraine and the Middle East, EU security and defence, external relations, competitiveness, and the Western Balkans.

In response to media inquiries regarding the draft Report of the European Parliament’s Committee on Foreign Affairs (AFET) on the progress of the Republic of North Macedonia (RNM), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Bulgaria states the following:

Minister Georg Georgiev to the Media During the EU Foreign Affairs Council: “We call for de-escalation and for preventing further escalation of the conflict in the Middle East”
“We continue to monitor the evolving situation, while emphasising that what most concerns Bulgaria and our citizens is the safety of our compatriots in the countries of the region. This issue is of utmost priority for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.” This was stated by Minister of Foreign Affairs Georg Georgiev in Brussels, where he is taking part in today’s meeting of the EU Foreign Affairs Council. Our chief diplomat reported that more than 150 individuals have expressed a desire to leave Israel – only two of whom are Bulgarian citizens, with the remainder holding dual nationality.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Georg Georgiev, represented Bulgaria at today’s regular meeting of the EU Foreign Affairs Council, held in Brussels. The EU’s chief diplomats discussed the ongoing Russian military aggression against Ukraine, the situation in the Middle East, Iran and Libya, relations with China, and developments in Georgia.

Statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs strongly condemns the barbaric attack on the Orthodox Church “St Elijah” in the suburbs of Damascus, carried out on 22 June 2025. The attack claimed the lives of dozens of innocent worshippers, including children, and left many others injured. This terrorist act constitutes a direct assault on religious freedom and on the security of the Christian community in Syria and the wider region.

Ministerial Meeting in Taormina, Italy, Marking the 70th Anniversary of the 1955 Messina Conference
Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Elena Shekerletova represented Bulgaria at the ministerial meeting commemorating the 70th anniversary of the 1955 Messina Conference. The Conference laid the groundwork and developed the concept for the European Economic Community, established two years later by the Treaty of Rome.

Minister Georgiev Presents Certificates to Junior Diplomats from the Middle East
“In a time when the world is torn by conflicts, we in Bulgaria are building connections – a foundation for peace.” With these words, Minister of Foreign Affairs Georg Georgiev welcomed junior diplomats from the Kingdom of Bahrain, the State of Qatar, and the Republic of Iraq, participants in the first study visit for junior diplomats from the Middle East region, organized by the Diplomatic Institute under the Minister of Foreign Affairs.

Aircraft Carrying 148 Evacuated Individuals from Israel Lands Safely in Sofia
Early this morning, a flight carrying 148 people – 89 Bulgarian citizens and 59 foreign nationals – successfully evacuated from the territory of the State of Israel via Egypt, arrived at Vasil Levski Airport in Sofia.
