Meeting between Minister Georg Georgiev and the Ambassador of Japan to Bulgaria Hisashi Michigami
The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Georg Georgiev, today received the Ambassador of Japan to Bulgaria, Hisashi Michigami, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Minister Georgiev discussed with Ambassador Michigami the excellent state of the political dialogue between our two countries and the opportunities for further development and enhancement of bilateral relations in traditional areas such as trade and investment cooperation, education, science and technology, energy, tourism and culture in the context of modern realities.

Georg Georgiev in a Telephone Conversation with Marco Rubio: The USA is Our Strategic Partner; We Work Together on Energy Security, Defence Capabilities, and Investments
"The USA is our key strategic partner and NATO ally, with whom we will continue to work jointly towards achieving our shared goals – energy security, defence capabilities and investments," stated the Minister of Foreign Affairs Georg Georgiev during a telephone conversation with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio. The call took place less than a month after the two met during the NATO Foreign Ministers’ Meeting in Brussels, where they agreed to continue their dialogue.

Bilateral political consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Bulgaria and Egypt
On 22 April 2025, the latest round of bilateral political consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Bulgaria and Egypt was held in Cairo. The consultations were led on the Bulgarian side by Deputy Minister Maria Angelieva, and on the Egyptian side by Mr. Wael Hamed, Deputy Minister for European Affairs.

"Bulgaria will insist on fair compensation for the relatives of Marin Marinov, the Bulgarian citizen who was killed in the Gaza Strip." This was stated by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Georg Georgiev, in a statement regarding information officially released today by the Israeli side, confirming that the explosion in the city of Deir al-Balah, Gaza Strip, in which Captain Marin Marinov lost his life, was caused by a shot fired from an Israeli tank.

Minister Georg Georgiev Holds Talks with Iraqi Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Fuad Hussein
Today, Minister Georg Georgiev held a telephone conversation with the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Iraq, Fuad Hussein. This was the first contact between the heads of the diplomatic services of the two countries. During the discussion, a number of topics on the bilateral agenda were addressed, with a particular focus on the untapped potential for trade and economic cooperation between Bulgaria and Iraq.
