The Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Georgi Georgiev, held a meeting today at the Ministry with Mr. Radek Rubeš, State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic. Georgi Georgiev and Radek Rubeš discussed topics of mutual interest, with particular emphasis on mechanisms for financial support and career development for the staff of the diplomatic services of both countries.

Farewell Meeting of Foreign Minister Georg Georgiev with Dr Nasri Abu Jaish, Ambassador of the State of Palestine to Sofia

Foreign Minister Georg Georgiev held a farewell meeting with Dr Nasri Abu Jaish, Ambassador of the State of Palestine in Sofia, on the occasion of his final departure from Bulgaria. Minister Georgiev thanked Dr Abu Jaish for his dedicated work towards deepening bilateral relations between Bulgaria and Palestine, noting that despite his short stay in Bulgaria, Ambassador Abu Jaish has left a positive mark on bilateral ties. For his part, Ambassador Abu Jaish expressed gratitude to the Bulgarian government and personally to Minister Georgiev for their efforts to strengthen bilateral cooperation

“Diplomats and Friends” Tennis Tournament under the Patronage of the Minister of Foreign Affairs Held in Sofia

The annual “Diplomats and Friends” tennis tournament, under the patronage of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, was held on 27 September 2025 at the courts of the National Tennis Centre in Borisova Garden. The sporting event was organised by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Bulgarian Tennis Federation. The tournament brought together employees of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and other state administrations, as well as representatives of the diplomatic corps in Bulgaria. Participants competed in the following categories: “Men 50+”, “Men under 50”, “Women” and “Doubles”.

Minister Georg Georgiev Meets in New York with the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs of the State of Qatar

Foreign Minister Georg Georgiev held a meeting with the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs of the State of Qatar, H.E. Sultan bin Saad Al-Muraikhi, on the margins of the 80th session of the UN General Assembly in New York. During the talks, Minister Georgiev underlined that Bulgaria wishes to open up new opportunities to enrich its cooperation with Qatar across all areas of mutual interest. Among the priority sectors he highlighted were energy, the defence industry, the economy, information and communication technologies, education, agriculture, infrastructure, culture and tourism.

Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al-Busaidi. The meeting, initiated by the Omani side, is part of the intensifying political dialogue between the two countries, which began with the historic visit of Minister Al-Busaidi to Bulgaria in July 2025 The two top diplomats discussed concrete steps to deepen bilateral relations and cooperation in sectors of mutual interest.
