Bulgaria will use Norway’s experience in helping citizens abroad

Representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs made a working visit to Norway in connection with the implementation of the project "Completion and equipment of the Crisis Management Center of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Bulgaria", sponsored by the Fund for Bilateral Relations within the framework of the Norwegian Financial Mechanism ( 2014 – 2021). The project initially started back in December 2021.

Position of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Bulgaria expresses its strong concern regarding the adoption on November 2nd by the Assembly of the Republic of North Macedonia of amendments to the Law on foundations and associations and the Law on political parties. There are serious concerns that this legislation aims to curtail the right of association of Bulgarians in North Macedonia in a discriminatory manner, one based on a unilateral misinterpretation of historical facts.

Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Kostadin Kodjabashev took part in the celebration of the 40th anniversary of the accession of the Republic of Bulgaria to the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women and the 40th anniversary of the Committee on the Convention at the Palace of Nations in Geneva. The participation of the Bulgarian Deputy Minister was an expression of the priority importance of the rights of women and girls for Bulgarian foreign policy.

We firmly reject and unequivocally condemn the illegal annexation by Russia of Ukraine's Donetsk, Luhansk, Zaporizhzhia and Kherson regions. By wilfully undermining the rules-based international order and blatantly violating the fundamental rights of Ukraine to independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity, core principles as enshrined in the UN Charter and international law, Russia is putting global security at risk.

We condemn in the strongest possible terms the plan to hold so-called “referenda” on joining the Russian Federation in the Ukrainian regions partly controlled by the Russian military. Increased pace of Bulgarian participation in the 77th session of the UN General Assembly

On September 20 of this year Minister of Foreign Affairs Nikolay Milkov and the delegation led by him took part in the official opening of the General Debate at the 77th session of the UN General Assembly in New York. The session was opened by UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, whose welcome focused on the war in Ukraine, the global energy crisis, nuclear security, climate change and a number of other global and regional issues.
