On 27 April 2023, at a ceremony at the Presidential Palace in Nouakchott, Veselin Djankov presented his credentials to the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Bulgaria to the Islamic Republic of Mauritania, based in Tunisia.

Meeting at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs with the team of the Euro-Atlantic Resilience Centre of Romania

On 27 April, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs hosted a working meeting between Director General for Political Affairs Maya Dobreva and the President of the Romanian Euro-Atlantic Resilience Centre, Ovidiu Raețchi. He briefly presented the activities and objectives of the newly established Centre in 2021, under the leadership of the Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, focusing on resilience building issues. The Romanian side invites NATO and EU stakeholders as well as key partner countries to join the centre.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs Nikolay Milkov opened the international conference of the Sofia Security Forum on: ‘Looking at Security Challenges in a Fragmenting World: Countering Russian Hybrid Activities’. Minister Milkov congratulated the organisers of the event, which raised the important and topical issue for Bulgaria — the consequences for global and regional security of the unprovoked and unjustified Russian military invasion of Ukraine. ‘The war dealt a serious blow to the existing architecture of international security and led to significant and long-term consequences in all spheres

On 25—26 April 2023, a delegation led by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Velislava Petrova visited Pretoria to hold political and economic consultations with Alvin Botes, Deputy Minister of International Relations and Cooperation of the Republic of South Africa. During the consultations, preparations for the visit of the President of the Republic of Bulgaria Rumen Radev to Pretoria, which is scheduled to take place in May this year, were discussed.

On 26 April 2023, the opening of Bulgaria's chairmanship of the OSCE Security Cooperation Forum (SCF) took place. The Bulgarian Permanent Representative opened the session by stressing that Bulgaria will chair this important OSCE format at a time of serious crisis of the European security architecture caused by Russia's unprovoked and unjustified military aggression against a sovereign and independent Ukraine, which has led to tragic humanitarian consequences and deep divisions.
