Bulgarian died in a bus accident in Ukraine

A Bulgarian citizen died in the accident near the town of Kovel in Ukraine this morning in which a Bulgarian-registered bus collided with another bus.

The situation in Istanbul and travel advice to Bulgarian citizens

The situation in Istanbul yesterday, July 8 2013, was again tense. In the late afternoon and evening, police special forces again used teargas, water cannons and rubber bullets to disperse those who had gathered near Taksim Square, Gezi Park and Istiklal Street, citizens who were demonstrating peacefully. In the clashes, children and passersby were injured.

The Embassy in Ottawa says that the result of checks are that at this time, there is no information that any Bulgarian citizens have been injured as a result of the derailment of a freight train on July 6 2013 in the town of Lac-Megantic in the province of Quebec.

Current situation in Egypt

In regard to the continuing escalation of tensions in Egypt, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs recommends that Bulgarian citizens refrain from travelling to the country unless as a matter of emergency. It is recommended that all planned trips to the Arab Republic be postponed until the situation in the country has normalised.

Ministry of Foreign Affairs advises Bulgarians in Egypt to exercise caution

According to the Embassy of Bulgaria in Cairo, mass demonstrations are planned in Egypt in the next few days. In parallel, there will be mass rallies in support of the government. Major demonstrations are scheduled for June 30 2013, but it is possible that tensions will escalate before that.

The situation in Austria

The Embassy of the Republic of Bulgaria in Vienna says that following the heavy rains and flooding in recent days, some roads in Austria remain closed. In places in the western part of the country, landslides on slopes and cleanup activities following flooding mean that some stretches of railway line are closed.
