Minister Georg Georgiev Takes Part in the EU Foreign Affairs Council Meeting

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Georg Georgiev, took part in the regular meeting of the EU Foreign Affairs Council, held in Brussels. The meeting opened with the traditional videoconference with the Ukrainian Foreign Minister, Andrii Sybiha, with whom the EU’s foreign ministers discussed the current situation in Ukraine and Russia’s military aggression. The subsequent discussion was also joined by the EU Special Envoy for Sanctions, David O’Sullivan.

Mira Raycheva-Shekerdzhieva Elected Judge of the UN Dispute Tribunal with the Support of 119 Member States

On 17 November 2025, the United Nations General Assembly elected, with the highest result, the Bulgarian candidate – Judge Mira Raycheva-Shekerdzhieva of the Supreme Administrative Court – as a part-time judge of the UN Dispute Tribunal. Her candidacy received the support of 119 UN Member States. The candidate from Zambia achieved the same high result.

General Affairs Council meeting

The ministers for European affairs met today in Brussels for the regular monthly meeting of the General Affairs Council. Bulgaria was represented by its Permanent Representative to the EU, Ambassador Rumen Alexandrov. The agenda included preparations for the December European Council, the Multiannual Financial Framework (MFF), EU–UK relations, the European Commission’s legislative planning, and the annual Rule of Law dialogue.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Georg Georgiev, received in a protocol meeting at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the French Republic to the Republic of Bulgaria, Her Excellency Ms Marie Dumoulin.
