Bilateral political consultations between Bulgaria and Austria
On 31 January 2025, bilateral political consultations between Bulgaria and Austria were held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The Bulgarian delegation was headed by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Elena Shekerletova and the Austrian delegation — by the Secretary General of the Austrian Federal Ministry for European and International Affairs Nikolaus Marschik.

The Embassy of the Republic of Bulgaria in the USA has not received any reports of Bulgarian citizens who were on board the plane that crashed in Washington. According to US authorities, there are no confirmed casualties so far. Our diplomatic mission in Washington is monitoring the situation and the development of the investigation, and stands ready to provide the necessary assistance if needed.

The Embassy of the Republic of Bulgaria in Stockholm continues to maintain constant contact with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Sweden and other competent Swedish institutions in connection with the investigation of the case of the detained ship ‘Vezhen’. The Bulgarian Embassy made all necessary efforts to obtain official information on the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Deputy Foreign Minister Elena Shekerletova represented Bulgaria at today's meeting of the General Affairs Council. The ministers responsible for European affairs met today in Brussels to listen to the presentation of the priorities of the Polish presidency, focusing on those that fall within the competence of the General Affairs Council.

The Bulgarian foreign minister participated today in the first ordinary meeting of the Foreign Affairs Council of the EU, which took place in Brussels. Europe's top diplomats discussed the ongoing Russian aggression against Ukraine, EU-US relations and the situation in the Middle East.
