The Embassy of the Republic of Bulgaria in Stockholm continues to maintain constant contact with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Sweden and other competent Swedish institutions in connection with the investigation of the case of the detained ship ‘Vezhen’. The Bulgarian Embassy made all necessary efforts to obtain official information on the circumstances surrounding the incident.
According to preliminary information received from the Swedish authorities, eight Bulgarian citizens were part of the crew of the ship. At this stage they have not been charged, are not in custody and can leave the ship, but have decided to stay. Have the opportunity to make contact with their families. The Bulgarian crew members will be visited shortly by our consul in Stockholm, who is already on his way to Karlskrona.
The Foreign Ministry continues to monitor developments in the case. We will notify you in due course if we receive any new information on it.
