Georg Georgiev Hosts the First-Ever Visit of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Sultanate of Oman to Bulgaria

“I extend a heartfelt welcome to you and the delegation accompanying you to the Republic of Bulgaria. The fact that you have undertaken this visit despite all the challenges in the Middle East region is a clear testament to our shared commitment to deepening the friendly relations between Bulgaria and Oman.” With these words, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr Georg Georgiev, addressed his guest – the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Sultanate of Oman, Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi – who is paying an official visit to Bulgaria at the invitation of Minister Georgiev.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Georg Georgiev, took part in today’s event organised by PanEuropa Bulgaria and the Konrad Adenauer Foundation, in partnership with the Embassy of the Kingdom of Denmark and the Diplomatic Institute at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The event presented the main priorities of the Danish Presidency for the next six months, united under the motto “A Strong Europe in a Changing World.”

Political Consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Bulgaria and Chile

On 2 July 2025, political consultations were held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Bulgaria with the Republic of Chile – the first such consultations in 15 years. Prior to the start of the plenary discussions, the Chilean delegation was received and welcomed by Mr Nikolay Pavlov, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs. During the meeting, both sides reaffirmed their willingness to intensify the political dialogue and cooperation in areas of mutual interest such as trade and investment, new technologies, artificial intelligence, scientific research, and others.

On 30 June 2025, political consultations were held in Baku, Republic of Azerbaijan, between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Bulgaria and the Republic of Azerbaijan. The Bulgarian delegation was led by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mrs Elena Shekerletova, while the Azerbaijani side was headed by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan, Mr Fariz Rzayev.

Minister Georg Georgiev Attends NATO–Ukraine Council Working Dinner in Foreign Ministers' Format

On the first day of the NATO Summit in The Hague, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Bulgaria, Georg Georgiev, took part in a working dinner of the NATO–Ukraine Council, held in the format of foreign ministers. The meeting was also attended by Ukraine’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Andrii Sybiha, and the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaja Kallas. The main focus of the discussion was need to ensure Ukraine’s security and to maintain NATO’s long-term support.

The Permanent Representative of the Republic of Bulgaria to the European Union, Ambassador Rumen Alexandrov, represented Bulgaria at the regular meeting of the General Affairs Council, held today in Luxembourg. The Council prepared the upcoming meeting of the European Council on 26 June, where conclusions are expected to be discussed and adopted on a broad range of issues, including the situation in Ukraine and the Middle East, EU security and defence, external relations, competitiveness, and the Western Balkans.
