EU ambassadors reached preliminary agreement on the draft decision for the lifting of checks on persons at internal land borders with and between the Republic of Bulgaria and Romania
COREPER II reached today preliminary agreement on the draft Council decision regarding the full accession of Bulgaria and Romania to the Schengen Area by January 1st 2025, including land borders. The Decision is expected to be finally adopted at the meeting of the EU Council "Justice and Home Affairs" (in the format of Home Affairs Ministers), which will take place in Brussels on 12 December 2024.

A meeting of the Inter-institutional Coordination Mechanism (ICM) for the Republic of Bulgaria's accession to the OECD took place on November 14, 2024 at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs with the participation of a delegation from the OECD’s Legal Affairs Directorate, led by Ms. Gita Kothari, the OECD Accession Coordinator.
