The Foreign Ministry has invited international observers to the national referendum

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, through the Permanent Representation of Bulgaria to the OSCE, has sent an invitation to the OSCE Office for Democratic Elections and Human Rights (ODIHR), the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly and the member states to monitor the forthcoming January 27 2013 referendum. In line with current practice, the invitation was announced at a December 20 2012 meeting of the OSCE Permanent Council.

Nickolay Mladenov in Belgrade: Bulgaria and Serbia starting negotiations on a treaty on good neighbourliness

“With Serbia, we are not only neighbours, but also friends who share a common vision – the full integration of all the peoples of the Western Balkans into the EU. Bulgaria will support the reforms in Serbia and dialogue with Priština, which are the two main elements for progress on Serbia’s path towards the EU,” Foreign Minister Nickolay Mladenov said during his visit to Belgrade. He met with his counterpart Ivan Mrkić and Prime Minister Ivica Dačić.

“The collapse of the Assad regime is going to come soon. Now we must concentrate our efforts on the situation of minorities in Syria and the protection of their social and religious leaders who will play a key role in the process of transition in the country,” Foreign Minister Nickolay Mladenov said during the closing session of the conference “The Middle East and North Africa and the Balkans: Challenges of Transformation” organised by the New Bulgarian University and the Al-Jazeera Center for Studies.

Nickolay Mladenov: Armenia and Azerbaijan should not allow further escalation in Nagorno-Karabakh
