Minister Daniel Mitov met with Asad AliYasin al-Samarai, Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq, on the occasion of his final departure from Bulgaria. The Foreign Minister thanked the Iraqi diplomat for his active work to deepen bilateral relations.
In my work as an ambassador I was guided by the desire to contribute to the development of the bilateral ties. The visits of four Iraqi ministers, as well as the joint forums and business meetings serve as an affirmation of this, said on his part Asad Ali Yasin al-Samarai.
Bulgaria and Iraq have traditionally good relations and despite the challenges we face, together we can overcome the obstacles and to deepen our cooperation, said Minister Mitov.
The Foreign Minister pointed out that Bulgaria is part of the political coalition against the so-called "Islamic state" and will continue to support the Iraqi government in its fight against the Islamists within its capabilities. We share with you your concerns and we want to see a stable, unified and prosperous Iraq, he added.
ISIS is a danger not only for Iraq but for the entire region and everyone must be well aware of that, agreed Minister Mitov and Ambassador Asad al-Samarai. They shared the view that part of the strategy to eliminate this danger is the delegitimation of the ideology of the terrorists, which should involve all religious authorities.
Daniel Mitov and Asad Ali Yasin al-Samarai shared the opinion that in addition to the cooperation in the field of security and defense, there is untapped potential in the economic and trade relations between the two countries. We must deepen the political dialogue and to identify those areas of mutual interest in which we can enrich our relations, said the Bulgarian Foreign Minister.
