The national flags of Bulgaria and Brazil decorate a postage stamp dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations

The celebration of the 80th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations with the Federal Republic of Brazil is a landmark event in the diplomatic calendar of the Republic of Bulgaria, said Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Valentin Poriazov at today's ceremony on the validation of a postal-philatelic edition on the occasion. The ceremony was held at the Museum of Communications and it was attended by Deputy Transport Minister Valeri Borisov and Charge d'Affaires of the Embassy of the Federative Republic of Brazil to Bulgaria Ricardo Guerra de Araújo.
The anniversary itself is the link between past and present, said Deputy Minister Poriazov. He emphasized that Bulgaria and Brazil share very good traditions of friendship and cooperation, which are an excellent basis for further progressive development towards new horizons. The mutual interest is durable and impervious to changing circumstances, added the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs.
In 1909, Brazil recognized the independence of Bulgaria and in 1934 established its first diplomatic representation here, said in turn Ricardo Guerra de Araújo. He pointed out that since the 1970s and especially in recent years the relations between the two countries are deepening. Turning point in the bilateral relations is the election of President Dilma Rousseff, whose Bulgarian roots further bring the two nations together.
Philately is an art through which we share common values. Despite the fact that Bulgaria and Brazil are geographically separated by thousands of miles, there are common things that bind us, said Deputy Minister Borisov. He noted that the first woman president of Brazil - Dilma Rousseff, has Bulgarian roots. On the other hand, currently more than 13 Brazilians are playing in the Bulgarian football championship.
The philatelic edition combines the colors of the national flags of the Republic of Bulgaria and the Federal Republic of Brazil. The circulation of the stamp is 955 copies. Artist of the project is Boyana Pavlova.
