05 November 2013 News

Minister of Foreign Affairs Kristian Vigenin met today with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the State of Qatar to Sofia Mohammed Ali Said al-Nuaymi. They discussed the bilateral relations in the field of economic and political dialogue at all levels and the opportunities for strengthening them given the traditionally good relations between the two countries.

Bulgaria and Qatar have permanent and increasingly concrete political and economic dialogue and I hope that Bulgarian- Qatari relations will continue to grow upward especially given the traditionally good relations between our two countries, said Kristian Vigenin. On his part, Ambassador Mohammed Ali Said al-Nuaymi confirmed the willingness of the new Qatari leadership to work on expanding and deepening the bilateral cooperation.

Among the topics of conversation were also the excellent conditions in Bulgaria, as an EU Member State, for Qatari investors. According to Minister Vigenin, organizing the second consecutive session of the Joint Commission for Economic, Scientific and Technological Cooperation will give a new impetus to the trade and economic relations between the two countries.

Kristian Vigenin emphasized the role of Qatar as a factor in the political and economic developments in the Middle East. "Qatar is one of the largest donors, supporting the neighboring countries of Syria, and a home to several million Syrians fleeing the war. Bulgaria, facing for the first time such a refugee influx, highly appreciates the role of your country to cope with the crisis caused by the ongoing conflict in Syria, "the Foreign Minister added .
