05 November 2013 News

"For Bulgaria, Mongolia is a priority partner, but without normally functioning Embassy it is difficult to maintain and develop successful relations. We believe that the potential of our relations is much larger than what we have at the moment and we need to continue to develop it. Affirmation of that policy is the government's decision to restore the Embassy of Bulgaria in Ulan Bator." This was said by Minister Kristian Vigenin during his first meeting with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Mongolia to Bulgaria Lhamsuren Dugerzhav.

The Foreign Minister emphasized the need to strengthen the political contacts between the two countries, aimed at achieving concrete results. "It is important to seek new forms of active development of the trade and economic relations. This is also one of the goals that the Foreign Ministry has set - to strengthen the foreign economic aspect in its work, "added Kristian Vigenin .

For Mongolia, Bulgaria is a priority and promising partner in South Eastern Europe and we highly assess the development of the bilateral relations, said Ambassador Dugerzhav. He also focused on the economic aspect of the relations and confirmed the desire of Mongolia to deepen the cooperation in that direction. Lhamsuren Dugerzhav added that on the Mongolian market there are already Bulgarian companies with strong positions. During the conversation, the promising areas of cooperation were identified among which mining, agriculture, pharmaceutical industry, geology and others. "These are sectors with great potential and it is our task to restore these links. We have a huge variety of possibilities to develop, "said the Mongolian Ambassador. He emphasized that the mission, headed by him, will be a regional center accredited for the other Balkan countries.

"I am glad that Mongolia has identified Sofia as a central location in the region, " said on his part the Bulgarian Foreign Minister. Bulgaria can assist in the development of Mongolia by using the Mongolian debt to our country for scholarships for trainings and technical assistance in the field of agriculture, said Minister Vigenin. According to him, there are good opportunities for various joint projects and exchange of experience in the field of agriculture. "Bulgarian business has strongly supported the idea of restoring the work of our mission in Mongolia. I hope that this will be in favor of the business which will not only renew old ties, but also create new opportunities, "added Kristian Vigenin. According to the Foreign Minister, the education of Mongolian students in Bulgaria is very important - these young people are well acquainted with Bulgaria and its people, thus creating the strongest ties between the two countries.

As an excellent example of a successful cooperation in the field of science, Ambassador Dugerzhav pointed out the involvement of Mongolian research scientists in the Bulgarian expedition to Antarctica.

"You are very familiar with Bulgaria and I hope that with joint efforts we will develop the partnership between our two countries," said Minister Vigenin. He wished success to the Ambassador Dugerzhav and expressed hope that the bilateral cooperation will bring many positive outcomes.
