Minister of Foreign Affairs Velislava Petrova Holds Meeting with the Ambassador of France to Bulgaria, Marie Dumoulin

Minister of Foreign Affairs Velislava Petrova received the Ambassador of the French Republic to Bulgaria, Marie Dumoulin, for a meeting at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The two sides discussed the forthcoming finalisation of the new roadmap for the Bulgarian-French strategic partnership, which is expected to give new impetus to bilateral relations. Both parties shared the view that cooperation in the coming years should focus on defence, energy and innovation. The French side also expressed particular interest in opportunities for partnership in the field of space technologies.

Minister Petrova and Ambassador Dumoulin also discussed the key priorities of the two countries in the context of their membership of the European Union, including the process of adopting the Union’s next Multiannual Financial Framework. The discussion also addressed EU enlargement, including the European consensus reached in 2022 and the need for its full implementation.

“At the end of the meeting, Ambassador Dumoulin reassured our chief diplomat that France would continue to support Bulgaria on its path towards accession to the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD).
