"Accession to the OECD is a key foreign policy priority of the Bulgarian government. We rely on the strong support of the Czech Republic and other EU member states within the OECD for our country’s accession to the Organisation," said Minister of Foreign Affairs Georg Georgiev during a meeting with his Czech counterpart, Mr Jan Lipavský.
The meeting took place within the framework of the 20th edition of the GLOBSEC Forum in Prague.
Minister Lipavský reaffirmed his country’s support for Bulgaria’s OECD candidacy.
The discussions also covered EU enlargement and the deepening of bilateral cooperation in a range of areas of mutual interest, including the economy, education, science, and the defence sector.
European security, including security in the Black Sea region and the EU’s Black Sea Strategy, was also part of the agenda.
The two ministers discussed the ongoing Russian aggression against Ukraine. Bulgaria once again reaffirmed its support for Ukraine’s territorial integrity and sovereignty.
“Bulgaria stands alongside Ukraine, the EU, and our international partners — including the United States — in calling for a complete and unconditional 30-day ceasefire,” Minister Georgiev stated.
