13 December 2023 News

The concert ‘One Life in Pink’ on 11 December 2023 in Paris marked the 30th anniversary of Bulgaria's full membership in the Organisation internationale de la Francophonie and the 40th anniversary of the inscription of four Bulgarian sites on the World Heritage List.

This was the last of a series of events throughout 2023, dedicated to the 30th anniversary of Bulgaria's membership in the Organisation internationale de la Francophonie.
The performance, which took place under the patronage of the Vice President of the Republic of Bulgaria Iliyana Yotova, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Mariya Gabriel and the French National Commission for UNESCO, was the work of the talented Bulgarian singer Vera Chandel and the remarkable musicians of the Angel Zaberski Trio under the stage design of Mariana Arsenova-Vladimirova, who paid tribute to the legendary Édith Piaf on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of her death.

Special guests at the event, hosted by Vice President Iliyana Yotova, were Anthony Kouakou Ohemeng-Boamah, UNESCO Assistant Director-General for Priority Africa and External Relations, Simona-Mirela Miculescu, President of the UNESCO General Conference, representatives of the Organisation internationale de la Francophonie, Senators and members of the Friendship Group with Bulgaria in the French Senate, members of Edith Piaf's family and representatives of the Friends of Édith Piaf and Pantheon de Chanson Associations.

The concert was opened with welcoming remarks by Vice President Iliyana Yotova, Anthony Kouakou Ohemeng-Boamah, Assistant Director-General of UNESCO and a video address by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Mariya Gabriel.

The Bulgarian interpretation of the eternal messages of humanism in the work of Édith Piaf aroused great interest among the diplomatic corps of UNESCO, the OECD and the French Republic, the Bulgarian community in France, friends of Bulgaria and music connoisseurs.
