The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ms Irena Dimitrova, received copies of the credentials of the newly appointed Ambassador of Albania to the Republic of Bulgaria, Ms Inid Milo.
During the talks, the two sides discussed the dynamics of bilateral relations and expressed readiness to intensify cooperation in all areas of mutual interest. Deputy Minister Dimitrova reiterated Bulgaria's support for Albania's EU accession process and welcomed its efforts to strengthen regional cooperation, including in the framework of the recently held in Tirana final high-level and top-level meetings of the Albanian presidency of the Berlin Process.
Special emphasis was placed on the role of the Bulgarian national minority in Albania as a bridge of friendship between the two nations. Deputy Minister Dimitrova expressed satisfaction with the organization and conduct of the census in Albania and the opportunity given to the representatives of the Bulgarian community to freely declare their identity.
The two diplomats also discussed topical issues on the regional and European agenda. Cooperation in the UN Human Rights Council, where Bulgaria and Albania will work together in 2024 — 2026, was identified as a common priority.
