Deputy Minister Irena Dimitrova held a meeting with the Contact Group for Combating Anti-Semitism

Deputy Minister and National Coordinator for Combating Anti-Semitism Irena Dimitrova held her first meeting with the members of the Contact Group for Combating Anti-Semitism to strengthen inter-agency coordination in the fight against intolerance and hatred. The meeting was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Interior, the Ministry of Justice, the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the Prosecutor’s Office, Sofia Municipality, the State Agency for National Security, the Commission for Protection against Discrimination and the Secretariat of the National Council for Cooperation on Ethnic and Integration Issues.
Representatives of leading institutions involved in combating anti-Semitism reaffirmed their commitments to respond to anti-Semitism in a timely and coordinated manner, nationally and internationally. The importance of prevention was highlighted, including the role of education and mass media, as well as cooperation with the NGO sector. Comments on the
draft National Action Plan to Combat Anti-Semitism were coordinated with a view to its timely adoption by the Council of Ministers.
The Contact Group for Combating Anti-Semitism was established under Decision No 874 of the Council of Ministers of 2022 to support the activities of the National Coordinator for Combating Anti-Semitism.
