Minister Nikolay Milkov held a meeting with the Ambassador of Canada to Bulgaria

Minister Nikolay Milkov today received the Ambassador of Canada to the Republic of Bulgaria, based in Bucharest, Annick Goulet, at a farewell meeting at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs at the end of her mandate. Nikolay Milkov highly appreciated the work of the Canadian Ambassador for the development of bilateral relations.
During the meeting, the excellent interaction between the two countries and the fruitful cooperation on the international scene in the context of the many challenges on the regional and global scale were confirmed.
The current state of bilateral relations was reviewed with an emphasis on the significant results achieved over the past few years, including the lifting of visa restrictions for Bulgarian citizens to travel to Canada.
The talks also focused on topical issues on the regional and international agenda — the war in Ukraine, energy security and energy supply diversification projects in the Southeast European region, as well as Bulgaria's accession to the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development and the Schengen area.
Ambassador Goulet thanked for the cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs during her mandate and pointed out that Canada attaches great importance to bilateral relations with Bulgaria. Minister Milkov expressed confidence that after his departure Ambassador Annick Goulet would continue to contribute to further strengthening bilateral relations.
