The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Bulgaria is following the case of the missing Bulgarian and Ukrainian citizen

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Bulgaria is currently not officially informed by the Russian side about a detained citizen with dual Bulgarian and Ukrainian citizenship, as reported in the Russian media.
On 28 April 2023, our Embassy in Moscow, in a note verbale to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, requested that the whereabouts of the citizen alleged by Russian media to be detained in the Russian Federation in connection with an investigation into the supply of explosives be clarified and reported.
In the meantime, our diplomatic mission is in contact and ready to assist the citizen's relatives. According to unconfirmed official information, their relative disappeared at the end of April 2023.
It should be noted that the Bulgarian citizen entered and resided as a Ukrainian citizen with his Ukrainian passport.
The Bulgarian side continues to monitor the case and is ready to react according to its capabilities depending on the development of the situation.
