29 April 2022 News

Minister of Foreign Affairs Teodora Genchovska visited the Armaments and Research Logistics Centre near Madrid and the NATO Southern Command Operations Center as part of the official delegation led by President Rumen Radev during his visit to the Kingdom of Spain.

Our first diplomat watched a demonstration flight of the Spanish Air Force’s Eurofighter EF-20 Typhoon II, performed by the Bulgarian Head of State.

Minister Genchovska also took part in the ceremony of awarding the 14th Wing of the Spanish Air Force with the Badge of Honor of the President of the Republic of Bulgaria for their contribution to strengthening the protection of the airspace of the Republic of Bulgaria and NATO’s eastern flank and for their excellent cooperation with the Bulgarian Air Force.

During his visit, the Bulgarian Foreign Minister also held talks with the representatives of the Bulgarian community in Spain at our Embassy in Madrid. The meeting was attended by Bulgarian citizens from different parts of the country. Our first diplomat discussed with the Bulgarian diaspora the achievements of the associations they have established and their initiatives, as well as the problems and challenges they face.

The Bulgarian community in Spain is the second largest in Europe and the third largest in the world. There are over 50 Bulgarian associations and 52 Bulgarian Sunday schools.
