At the short audience, Ambassador Plamen Bonchev conveyed the most cordial greetings and wishes from the President and the Prime Minister of the Republic of Bulgaria to the Grand Duke. Mutual satisfaction was expressed with the traditionally good and friendly relations between Bulgaria and Luxembourg, which this year marks 65 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations. These relations are developing upwards, both bilaterally and through our partnership and allied relations in the European Union and NATO.
The interlocutors discussed national and European efforts to tackle the COVID-19 crisis, the need for enhanced European coordination to tackle the economic and social consequences of the pandemic, and to build a modern and more sustainable Europe. Good prospects and significant potential for expanding economic cooperation in the fields of investment, trade, tourism, renewable energy production and other areas were noted. The conversation also touched upon topical foreign policy issues and the prospects for cooperation between the two countries to strengthen security and stability in Europe's neighbouring regions.
The two interlocutors agreed that the dynamic partnership will make the historically established ties between Bulgaria and Luxembourg even stronger and more sustainable.
