We need ambassadors that are motivated, communicative and knowledgeable about Bulgarian priorities

29 March 2012 News

“We need ambassadors that are motivated, communicative and knowledgeable about Bulgarian priorities,” the President of the Republic of Bulgaria, Rosen Plevneliev, said at the closing of the Foreign Ministry’s Ambassadors’ Conference.

“Bulgaria must move away from the clichés known around the world and pursue an active cultural diplomacy to improve the reputation of our country,” the President said.

Foreign policy is a powerful instrument and through it, the President expects from ambassadors pro-active and precise information about economic conditions in the countries to which they are accredited and about market niches where Bulgaria could benefit effectively.

In conclusion, President Plevneliev said that it was necessary for Bulgaria’s embassies worldwide to maintain active contacts with local media so that the country gets positive coverage throughout the world.
