Foreign Minister Daniel Mitov held talks with the newly appointed Ambassador of the Czech Republic to Bulgaria

The bilateral relations between Bulgaria and the Czech Republic, the migrant crisis and the energy security in Europe were at the focus of today’s meeting of Minister Daniel Mitov and the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Czech Republic to Bulgaria Dr. Dušan Štrauch.
The head of the Bulgarian diplomacy and the Czech Ambassador shared the view that coping with the refugee flow from the Middle East and Africa is a task of major importance for the EU and in this respect the Union needs a common approach to solving the problem. Minister Mitov emphasized on the need to implement strict measures in order to stop the trafficking of people and to distinguish between economic migrants and refugees. He underscored the importance of establishing a mechanism for the repatriation of persons who have no right to stay in the EU.
Minister Mitov and Ambassador Štrauch discussed also the bilateral political relations between Bulgaria and the Czech Republic and agreed on the need for their further strengthening by exchanging visits at high and highest level.
The talks covered also issues related to the EU energy security, diversification of gas supplies, the conflict in Syria, the situation in Ukraine and sanctions against Russia.
