Minister Mitov confers the "Golden Laurel Bough" award on UNICEF Representative in Bulgaria Tanja Radocaj

Minister Daniel Mitov conferred the"Golden Laurel Bough" award with a diploma on UNICEF Representative in Bulgaria Tanja Radocaj. The highest honor of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Bulgaria is awarded to Tanja Radocaj for her personal contribution and successful work to protect children and promote their rights in Bulgaria, as well as on the occasion of her forthcoming final departure from the country.

"The UNICEF office in Bulgaria contributed significantly to the implementation of new models and approaches to improve child welfare. We managed together to create a favorable environment for the implementation of the childcare reform in Bulgaria," the Foreign Minister said. The official ceremony was held at the Foreign Ministry in the presence of UN Children's Fund representatives.

During the ceremony Minister Mitov expressed his gratitude for the support and cooperation of the organization regarding the protection of the most vulnerable refugees – children, in the context of increasing migration pressure on Bulgaria.

Tanja Radocaj expressed gratitude for the award and emphasized that the Bulgarian experience in childcare will be used as an example of best practices in other countries in their path towards the successful implementation of policies and programs for children. "Cooperation and exchange of ideas between UNICEF, public authorities, EU Commission and civil society were crucial to my successful work in your country. I am a loyal friend and partner of Bulgaria and you can always count on my support in our common cause to protect and improve the welfare of children," said in conclusion Tanja Radocaj.
