Recommendations for people travelling to Egypt

26 January 2011

On January 25, 2011 during the anti-government protests in Cairo and in major Egyptian cities- several people were killed and dozens were injured. Some of the neighborhoods in the Egyptian capital and its entrants are still closed. It is possible that the clashes between protesters and the police will continue. Therefore, we advise the people travelling to Egypt to be extremely cautious during their stay in the country and to avoid locations where possible protests and gathering of large crowds are organized. Particular vigilance is required in the tourist sites around the Sinai area, at the border with the Gaza Strip and in Alexandria and Cairo.
