Statement by Minister Daniel Mitov on the ratification of the
EU-Moldova Association Agreement by the European Parliament
The Republic of Bulgaria welcomes today’s ratification of the EU-Moldova Association Agreement by the European Parliament. This is a step of historic importance for the Republic of Moldova, a clear sign of its belonging to the common European family.
The Association Agreement is fundamental for the European future of Moldova and will contribute to the modernization of the country, the harmonization of national with EU legislation and the convergence with European values and standards.
The Republic of Bulgaria was among the first countries to support the European integration of the Republic of Moldova with the ratification of the Agreement by the National Assembly on 24 July 2014. As in previous years, Bulgaria will continue to provide the necessary support, expertise and assistance. The steady progress on the path towards Europe will provide new opportunities to the big Bulgarian community in Moldova on free movement, education and cultural rapprochement with the European Union.
