Bulgaria re-elected member of the ITU Council

Bulgaria has been re-elected a member state of the Council of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) for a seventh consecutive time.The elections took place during the ongoing ITU Plenipotentiary Conference in Busan, Republic of Korea. The conference is the supreme governing body of the Union and is held every four years.
Our country is chosen from the quota of Region C, which includes the countries of Central and Eastern Europe and Asia, receiving remarkably high number of votes among the seven nominated candidates. The re-election of Bulgaria will contribute to enhancing the prestige of our country in the international organization and will enable it to contribute to the development and construction of the information society in Region C, as well as to influence the formation of policies and strategies of the International Telecommunication Union.
Bulgarianis represented at the Conference by the Ambassador of the Republic of Bulgaria in Seoul Petar Andonov, representatives of the Ministry of Transport, Information Technology and Communications and the Communications Regulation Commission.
