Minister Mitov met with the Ambassadors of EU Member States

The main task of the caretaker government is to guarantee the stability of the State until the conduct of parliamentary elections and the formation of next government. We are responsible for continuing the fulfillment of the country's commitments as EU and NATO member. There should be no doubt that Bulgaria is a loyal and reliable partner, Minister Daniel Mitov said at a working meeting with the EU Member States' ambassadors in Sofia.
Reform is the keyword for Bulgaria, Minister Mitov pointed out. Clearly, we cannot work miracles in two months, but we can lay the foundations for the next government so that it could start working immediately, he added.

Minister Mitov and the EU ambassadors discussed the results of the extraordinary meeting of the Foreign Affairs Council which took place on 15 August. They shared the view that the situation in Iraq is exceedingly grave and requires a prompt and adequate reaction in terms of providing both humanitarian aid and military support.
The situation in Ukraine, the EU sanctions against Russia and the reciprocal sanctions on the part of Moscow were also among the topics of conversation. The Foreign Minister and the European diplomats focused also on the expectations of the NATO Summit in Wales in September and Bulgaria's preparation to take over the EU Presidency in 2018.
Minister Daniel Mitov and the аmbassadors discussed Kristalina Georgieva's nomination for a second term as a member of the European Commission and for the post of EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy. Apart from management skills, Commissioner Georgieva possesses excellent knowledge of the geopolitical situation in the world, she has won the trust of the leaders of many countries and can immediately step in the role of High Representative, Mitov pointed out. We are well aware that the decision depends on many party and national balances, but we believe that this is an excellent candidature, Minister Mitov said.
