The celebration of the 50th anniversary allows us to see what we have achieved so far and what goals lie ahead. For us as part of the global economy it is important to see how it develops in time. I believe that your contribution as Secretary General of the organization that is dealing with trade and development issues, is of a significant importance, said Minister Kristian Vigenin. You can rely on Bulgaria's support for your efforts also in the future, he added.

Mukhisa Kituyi said that one of the main objectives of the organization is to develop competence and analytical expertise in order to meet the new challenges faced by the countries. He praised the  cooperation with Bulgaria, expressing willingness to intensify the partnership with our country.

The Foreign Minister and the UNCTAD Secretary General discussed a number of issues of mutual interest, including the implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding between the Commission on Protection of Competition and UNCTAD, signed on 11 July 2012 in Geneva. Among the topics of conversation were also the activities of UNCTAD related to the investment as a strong catalyst for achieving inclusive growth, as well as the goals of the post-2015 development agenda in accordance with the adopted by the Republic of Bulgaria Framework on the formulation of new goals for sustainable development.

They exchanged views on development aid and Minister Vigenin informed the SecretaryGeneral on the outcome of yesterday’s meeting of the Interministerial Council on International Development Cooperation. From the second half of last year we started working more actively in that  direction  and I am glad that we are facing gradual progress by using the example of other European countries that effectively develop this policy, he said.
