Kristian Vigenin met with the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus

Foreign Minister Kristian Vigenin met with Elena Kupchina, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus, who is visiting Sofia on the occasion of the fourth sitting of the Bulgaria-Belarus intergovernmental commission on trade-economic and scientific-technical cooperation.

The relations between Bulgaria and Belarus are developing within the broader framework of the EU-Belarus relations, and our country is part of the active policy of the Union in the region, said Kristian Vigenin during the meeting. " The commitment is better than the isolation. If there are problems, they must be resolved through active communication and building trust," he said. The Bulgarian Foreign Minister added that our country welcomes the active participation of Belarus in the initiatives of the EU Eastern Partnership and we are ready to provide the possible assistance.

During the meeting KristianVigenin and Elena Kupchina discussed various aspects of the bilateral relations and the opportunities for the development of cooperation in the economic sphere. It is important to start to use the existing great potential in the field of trade and economic relations between our two countries, said Deputy Minister Kupchina, adding that this would be of interest to the business from both sides.

As another potential area of cooperation, the Bulgarian Foreign Minister pointed out tourism. Statistics show that Bulgaria is becoming one of the favorite tourist destinations for the citizens of Belarus and it is important for us to do our best to simplify the procedure for issuing visas, added Kristian Vigenin.
