Minister Vigenin met with the newly elected Metropolitan for Western and Central Europe of the Bulgarian Orthodox Church - His Eminence Anthony

Minister of Foreign Affairs Kristian Vigenin welcomed today at the MFA the newly elected Metropolitan for Western and Central Europe of the Bulgarian Orthodox Church - His Eminence Anthony. At the beginning of the meeting, Minister Vigenin congratulated Bishop Anthony on the occasion of his ordaining.

The Bulgarian top diplomat assured his guest that from the first days of his appointment he closely monitors the issues, related to the Orthodox eparchies of the Bulgarian Orthodox Church in the countries of Western and Central Europe. He highly appreciated the activities of the Bulgarian Orthodox communities in these countries, which contribute to the preservation of the Bulgarian identity and traditions of our compatriots living there.

His Eminence Metropolitan Anthony thanked in return for the contribution and the commitment of the diplomatic institution to the efforts for spiritual care of the Bulgarian citizens living abroad, stressing that the fulfillment of the mission of BOC there is unthinkable without the assistance of the Bulgarian state.

The Foreign Minister and Metropolitan Anthony discussed some of the most pressing issues, related to the Bulgarian Orthodox communities abroad. At the end of the meeting, Minister Vigenin reiterated to his guest the readiness to continue the good cooperation and assistance of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Bulgarian diplomatic missions.
