26 November 2013 News

"It is a challenge to become part of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The fact that you are selected to join us is an affirmation of your qualities. I am glad that you will have the opportunity to work for the development of the active foreign policy of Bulgaria." This was said by Kristian Vigenin during his meeting with the 43 young professionals who are embarking on their career path at the MFA, as part of the "Career Start" programme 2013/2014.

The Foreign Minister added that the institution is open to young people and the work experience gained at the MFA will contribute to their professional realization, both in the public administration and in the private sector. "Despite the cuts, we succeed in hiring some of the young people who joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs under the programme, with the hope that they will be dedicated to the work in the field of international relations," said Kristian Vigenin. He gave as example the 17 young professionals who were employed at the Foreign Ministry after the completion of their contract under the "Career Start" programme 2012/2013.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs works very actively on various student internship programs in the public administration, as well as on individual educational internships and the students’ interest in the opportunity to gain experience in the diplomatic institution is very high, added Minister Vigenin. He introduced to the new employees the procedure of selection and appointment of trainee attaches.

Kristian Vigenin introduced to the young professionals the foreign policy priorities of the government. He emphasized on enhancing the regional policy and cooperation, actively participating in the European institutions and the policy-making in protection of the Bulgarian national interest, developing the policy within the Eastern Partnership, working with the Bulgarian communities abroad, sustaining the relations with the countries of the Middle East and North Africa, as well as increasing the economic potential of our country.

The Foreign Minister presented the first edition of a booklet, which aims at helping the young people, who just entered the institution, to get acquainted with its work and tasks. Created from "Starters" to "Starters", it contains useful information about the various aspects of the administrative activities of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as well as valuable firsthand practical advice.

"It would be great if all of you get together and exchange the gained experiences and knowledge. I and my colleagues are committed to support and help you in everything you need. For me it is important to work effectively and to gain the maximum benefit from each other, "added in front of the young "Starters" Kristian Vigenin.”I wish you luck and I hope that you will manage to utilize the most valuable experience you will receive over the next nine months at the MFA," the Foreign Minister added.
