V tennis tournament “Diplomats and Friends”

The V tennis tournament “Diplomats and Friends" , under the patronage of the Minister of Foreign Affairs Kristian Vigenin, was held on 12 - 13 October at the courts of the Bulgarian National Tennis Center " Carlsberg ". The sport event was organized on the initiative of the Ambassador of Germany H.E. Matthias Höpfner, Ambassador of Italy H.E. Marco Conticelli, the President of the Bulgarian Tennis Federation Stefan Tsvetkov and the "State Protocol" Directorate of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Among the participants in the event were ambassadors and diplomats from foreign missions accredited in Sofia , ministers , MPs, officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and other friends and fans of tennis.
The prize in the 50+ age group was awarded to Ambassador Marco Conticelli after challenging game with Ambassador Matthias Höpfner. In the doubles at the same age category the prize was awarded to Svetlozar Panov, diplomat from the Foreign Ministry, and Christian Iliev, an employee of the Irish Embassy in Sofia, who played in the final against the Minister of Defense Angel Naydenov and Ambassador Conticelli .
In the doubles of the 50+ age group the winners were Angel Angelov and Svetoslav Stankov, MFA officials. Svetoslav Stankov won also the singles in this category.
The winners were awarded trophies by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Angel Velichkov, the President of the Bulgarian Tennis Federation Stefan Tsvetkov and Atanas Mladenov, the Director of “ State Protocol” Directorate.
