Kristian Vigenin held talks with the President and the Chairman of the Parliament of Moldova

During his two-day official visit to Moldova, Minister of Foreign Affairs Kristian Vigenin met with the President of Moldova , Nicolae Timofti and the Chairman of the Moldovan Parliament, Igor Corman.

The Republic of Moldova has a significant place among the foreign policy priorities of Bulgaria as the development and improvement of the friendly and partner relations is essential . This was said by Minister of Foreign Affairs Kristian Vigenin during his meeting with the President of Moldova Nicolae Timofti . The Bulgarian Foreign Minister expressed his satisfaction with the thriving cooperation between the two countries, both bilaterally and in the framework of various international organizations. Minister Vigenin gave verbal invitation on behalf of President Rosen Plevneliev to President Nicolae Timofti to visit Bulgaria next year, which was accepted with gratitude .

Later Kristian Vigenin held talks with the Chairman of the Moldovan Parliament Igor Corman . The two agreed that the necessary conditions for further development of the bilateral relations are available and the parliamentary cooperation has a significant role in it. Minister Vigenin handed to the Chairman of the Parliament , Igor Corman, an invitation on behalf of the Chairman of the NA of the Republic of Bulgaria, Mihail Mikov, to visit the country at a convenient time for him .

During his meetings, the Bulgarian top diplomat expressed the strong support of our country for the European perspective of the Republic of Moldova. Bulgaria will insist on signing of the Association Agreement and the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area  Agreement in the spring of 2014, within the  framework of the European Commission current mandate, and will support the fastest possible liberalization of the visa regime between the Republic of Moldova and the EU.

In the talks held today, Kristian Vigenin focused on how to improve trade and economic relations between the two countries. The program of the official visit of Minister Vigenin to Moldova will continue with meetings with representatives of the Bulgarian community in the capital Chișinău and the city of Taraklia – the center of Bulgarian-populated administrative district in the southern part of the country.
