Bulgaria supports the European path of Moldova

On the first day of his official visit to Moldova , Minister of Foreign Affairs Kristian Vigenin met with his host – the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Moldova Natalia Gherman . In their conversation, he welcomed the country's efforts to join the European Union. "I am here to support the European integration of Moldova. I believe that the EU should provide a European perspective for the country and hopefully one day , along with the Bulgarians in Moldova , to be part of one union , " Minister Vigenin said during the talks . He expressed confidence that the concluded Association Agreement between the EU and Moldova , including the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area (DCFTA) will be signed at the November EU Eastern Partnership Summit in Vilnius. The Minister confirmed Bulgaria 's firm intention to contribute to the swift signing and implementation of these vital tools for the European integration of Moldova.

Kristian Vigenin also expressed Bulgaria's determination to continue its cooperation with the Government of Moldova in support of the Bulgarian minority in the country, to collaborate on the long-term preservation and development of its customs, culture and education. "Bulgaria is working towards speeding up the visa liberalization process because it is important for us that the Moldovan citizens enjoy visa-free travel to Bulgaria ," the Foreign Minister said.

Kristian Vigenin also met with the Prime Minister of Moldova Iurie Leancă. In his conversation with the Moldovan Prime Minister, the Bulgarian top diplomat confirmed Bulgaria’s full support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Moldova. In addition, Vigenin said that Bulgaria will continue to contribute to the successful participation of the EU in the negotiations in the format " 5 +2" for finding a peaceful, lasting and mutually acceptable solution on the Transnistrian conflict.
