23 August 2013 News

Minister Kristian Vigenin’s official visit to Bucharest continued with a meeting with the Deputy Chairman of the Chamber of Deputies of Romania, Viorel Hrebenciuc. Bulgaria’s Foreign Minister welcomed Romania’s idea to deepen co-operation between the National Assembly of the Republic of Bulgaria and the Senate of Romania through the exchange of working visits by the respective committees on European Affairs and Economic Policy, Transport and Communications, as well as friendship groups.

Kristian Vigenin noted that the priorities of the Romanian Presidency-in-office of the South East Europe Cooperation (July 2013 - June 2014) are of particular interest for Bulgaria, and Bulgaria will provide the necessary assistance and support to Romania in implementing these.

Within the framework of regional co-operation, SEECP is the leading political framework for mutual support and strong common positions on issues of development of the region, he said.

During the talks, there was discussion of the Bulgarian concept for the transformation of the Regional Secretariat for Parliamentary Cooperation (in Sofia) into the Parliamentary Conference, which will transform it into a flexible format for political dialogue on the European integration of all the countries of the region.
