14 October 2026 News

Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Ms Ivanka Tasheva received copies of the Letters of Credence of the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Hellenic Republic to the Republic of Bulgaria, H.E. Despina Koukoulopoulou.

During the meeting, the traditionally friendly atmosphere and the excellent state of bilateral relations between Bulgaria and Greece were highlighted. These relations have been elevated to the level of a strategic partnership and are based on mutual respect, trust and closely aligned positions on a number of issues on the European and international agenda.

As Member States of the European Union and NATO, the two countries share common values and interests and actively support each other within these and other international frameworks. Both sides expressed their readiness to maintain an active political dialogue and further deepen bilateral cooperation in all areas of mutual interest.

During the discussions, it was noted with satisfaction that Ambassador Koukoulopoulou’s arrival coincided with a particularly important milestone in the development of bilateral relations – the signing and implementation of the Memorandum between the Ministries of Culture of the two countries.

The Deputy Minister wished Ambassador Koukoulopoulou a successful tenure in Bulgaria and expressed confidence that her work would contribute to further strengthening the close and friendly relations between Bulgaria and Greece.
