The Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Bulgaria and Georgia Held Political Consultations in Tbilisi

The Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Bulgaria and Georgia held political consultations today in Tbilisi. The two delegations, headed by Petko Doykov, Director General of the Directorate General for Bilateral Relations, and Tamara Tsuleiskiri, Director of the Directorate for European Affairs, conducted a comprehensive review of bilateral relations in all areas and noted their mutual interest in further deepening the dynamic cooperation in trade and economic relations, with Bulgaria ranking among Georgia’s ten leading foreign trade partners. Particular attention was paid to infrastructure projects aimed at developing transport, energy and digital connectivity between Europe and Asia, in which both countries play an important role. The delegations also discussed bilateral cooperation within international organisations, security in the Black Sea region, relations between the European Union and Georgia, as well as other current issues on the international agenda.
Nino Tsilosani, Vice-Speaker of the Parliament of Georgia and Head of the Georgia-Bulgaria Parliamentary Friendship Group, and Levan Makhashvili, Chair of the EU Integration Committee, hosted a meeting with the Bulgarian delegation, during which views and positions were exchanged on the development of bilateral cooperation between Bulgaria and Georgia, the prospects for further developing interparliamentary dialogue, and the European Union’s relations with Georgia as a candidate country for EU membership.
