Minister Petrova Met with EU Youth Delegate to the UN Emili Karakoleva

Minister of Foreign Affairs Velislava Petrova met today with Emili Karakoleva, who was elected a youth delegate of the European Union to the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly for the mandate 2026-2027. In the period 2024-2025 Emili Karakoleva successfully fulfilled her mandate as a Bulgarian youth delegate to the UN.
During the meeting, Minister Petrova congratulated the young Bulgarian on the achievement and stressed its importance both for Bulgaria and for the participation of young people in the European and international processes. "I am very glad that a Bulgarian woman is a representative of the European Union. This shows that the Bulgarian level is much above the national one," Minister Petrova said at the meeting.
During the conversation, the possibilities for more active participation of young people in the process of forming European policies were discussed, as well as the need to create more mechanisms for their inclusion in public and political life.
Minister Petrova also emphasized the importance of digitalization and new technologies as key tools for engaging young generations and stressed that the approach to them should reflect the modern reality and the changing environment.
It reaffirmed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' commitment to continue supporting youth participation initiatives and to work towards the further development of programmes that promote youth engagement in international relations.
According to Minister Petrova, Emili Karakoleva provides a direction for other young people to follow and with her success shows that youth participation programs in Bulgaria are yielding results and can be an example for other European countries.
